Policy Priorities for the Road to a Sustainable Job Recovery

Widespread economic uncertainty, high risk of business serious disruption, changing occupational safety and health guidelines, polarisation of opportunity and the rising number of people forced to work in the informal sector, these are some of the serious consequences of Covid-19 on employment and decent work.

To address these employment and labour market challenges,  policymakers and social partners on all levels of labour market governance need to work together to develop the appropriate policy and regulatory responses for a sustainable job recovery. 

On 22 April, the World Employment Confederation (WEC) and the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) brought together representatives from international organisations, national governments and social partners to discuss this topic. WEC and IOE shared some of the recommendations they recently put forward in their joint position paper “Policy priorities for the road to a sustainable recovery”.
