The European Commission presented today its Europeasn Semester package, including among others the Annual Growth Survey 2018, the draft Joint Employment Report and a set of updated EU Employment Guidelines to guide labour market reforms in the Member States based on the European Pillar of Social Rights.

Commenting on this initiative, Denis Pennel, Managing Director of the World Employment Confederation-Europe said “The World Employment Confederation-Europe welcomes the focus on labour market reforms in the 2018 Annual Growth Survey and draft joint Employment Report. Diversity is key to driving more inclusive and sustainable labour markets. Regulation must ensure fair competition between diverse forms of work. It must also take a strategic approach to skills and training to ensure that all workers are equipped with the skill-sets they need to succeed in 21st century labour markets.”

“The employment industry Manifesto for building open, inclusive, sustainable and enabling labour markets highlights diverse forms of work and skills for jobs as two of its five key policy recommendations – along with a guarantee for decent work, a new Social Deal and responsible labour market intermediation.”
