Commenting on the recent Week of Action on Temporary Agency Work, the World Employment Confederation-Europe (WEC-Europe) underscores the critical importance of compliance and the effective enforcement of labour standards within the agency work industry.
WEC-Europe represents a compliant and ethical agency work industry across Europe. Its members are bound by the WEC Global Code of Conduct, which includes key principles such as respect for the law, ethical and professional behaviour, the prohibition of charging job seekers fees for work assignments, the promotion of health and safety at work, and the principle of non-discrimination.
Non-compliant agency work practices undermine the protection of agency workers’ rights and create unfair competition for businesses that operate in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
As an alternate stakeholder group member of the European Labour Authority, WEC-Europe welcomes the opportunity to engage in dialogue with the Authority regarding the findings of the Week of Action. WEC-Europe is also working closely with its members to further strengthen quality standards, promote compliance, and support a well-functioning labour market that protects workers and employers alike.
