In December 2021, the European Commission presented a proposal for a Directive on working conditions for people working via digital labour platforms. As a core element, the European Commission proposes a presumption of an employment relationship based on a set of criteria to be assessed at the national level.
Can correct classification be the instrument to improve working conditions and social protection for people working via digital labour platforms? The World Employment Confederation-Europe and its French national federation, Prism’emploi organised an online event on February 17th, 2022 to discuss this, from the perspective of the private employment services industry and various EU stakeholders. In the context of the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, the event also brought in the experience of French stakeholders.
